CDPR Confirms New Witcher 3 DLC Based on Netflix Show

It’s been known for quite some time now that CD Projekt Red has been working on a new version of The Witcher 3 that is looking to bring many huge graphical enhancements to really get the best out of it while playing on it next-gen consoles. Don’t panic though, as a PC version is also on the way too! Despite this having recently seen a few major problems, however, largely because its source code was apparently stolen, it seems that The Witcher 3 Enhanced Edition is still on target for release before the end of the year.

In something of a surprise announcement, however, following a post on their official Twitter account, CD Projekt Red has confirmed that with this release, it will also include some brand new DLC that will be based on the hit Netflix adaptation!

CDPR Confirms Witcher 3 Netflix-Based DLC

In confirming the news, CD Projekt Red has strongly hinted that this new DLC release will coincide with The Witcher 3 enhanced edition launch. However, the good news doesn’t end there. They have also said that this new content will be made available entirely for free and, best of all, will come out for all versions of the game. As long as you own a copy of the game, regardless of the platform, this DLC is coming your way! – The only real question mark this raises now is, what exactly can we expect?…

What Do We Think?

Just to cover some points raised and confirmed earlier, this enhanced version of The Witcher 3 will be made available to anyone who currently owns an original copy of the game. Albeit, at the time of writing, this will be pretty much only apply to those who own it on the PS4 and Xbox One who has since upgraded to the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. – PC owners, of course, have no worries here just as long as their specifications can handle the graphical improvements.

In terms of what this Netflix-based DLC will offer though, well, CD Projekt Red is currently remaining somewhat vague. What we would say is that people shouldn’t expect anything huge here. It does sound like, on the whole, this ‘DLC’ is going to be limited to cosmetic items. Perhaps the ability to change Geralt into a Henry Cavill version which, given that he’s a huge gaming geek, we daresay he wouldn’t complain too much about (not indeed my wife who fantasises about him coming to steal her away from me one day).

At the moment, though, with no firm release date set for The Witcher 3 Enhanced Edition, we are currently waiting to see what this will bring. Overall though, given how great the original version is, I’m expecting big things from this!
