CDPR Fixes Cyberpunk 2077 1.5 PS4 Brick Bug But the Damage is Done (Again!)
Mike Sanders / 3 years ago
Late last week CD Projekt Red released the latest 1.5 updates for Cyberpunk 2077 that, as its key highlight, finally brought the next-gen upgrade to the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. With it offering a number of bug fixes and general ‘improvements’ to the existing last-gen versions, however, a number of PS4 users found that rather than ‘fixing’ anything, the patch had instead completely bricked the game. Specifically affecting disc-based users, Cyberpunk 2077 was rendered entirely unplayable.
Well, while a fix has been released that should hopefully resolve the problem, we again have to ask if CD Projekt Red has, once again, only managed to shoot themselves in the foot!
There’s a software update for PS4 live now. It addresses the issue with the disc version of Cyberpunk 2077 not launching on PS4 after installing the latest game patch. Please make sure to update your system. pic.twitter.com/3EYJNGjRKp

Cyberpunk 2077 – 1 Gaming Step Forward, 2 PR Steps Back!
You do have to feel a bit of sympathy for PS4 owners who have somehow managed to stick with Cyberpunk 2077. At launch, it was undoubtedly the worst version available with, by a huge margin, the most problems. With this latest 1.5 update basically rendering the game unplayable for a significant number of disc users, however, it’s not only a slap in the face to those who perhaps did view this as a big step towards getting the game right but more so those who perhaps choose the 1.5 patch moment to finally purchase the game!
Put simply, as often has been the case with Cyberpunk 2077, CD Projekt Red has taken one gaming step forward while taking 2 huge PR steps backwards!
Well… At Least its Mostly Fixed!
While the PS4 update has undoubtedly captured most of the attention, the release of Cyberpunk 2077 1.5 hasn’t been entirely carefree for other platforms either. PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S owners have all reported a fresh batch of problems (mostly bugs/glitches) related to the 1.5 updates. Fortunately though, on a comparative level, they’ve been nowhere near as bad as the disc PS4 version. You know, at least those people could actually play their game!
It does, however, again highlight that CD Projekt Red likely rushed this update out the door with not enough Q&A testing. The 1.5 update clearly wasn’t ready as a whole, but then again, perhaps this is just in keeping with the traditions that Cyberpunk 2077 has set.
