California-based Centon Electronics have announced a new line of SATA III SSDs. However, most readers will probably be unsurprised to find they take the 2.5″ form factor, SATA III interface and utilise the Sandforce 2281 controller which still has memory intensive over-provisioning enabled. Although Centon are citing this generation of drives as being twice as fast as their last SATA II generation drives, these drives are still slower than you would expect. With read and writes of 400MB/s and 300MB/s respectively these drives are 100-250MB/s slower than their competitors read and write specifications.
