In an age of online gaming where people can casually go online or face off against others in competitive championships, some people are always looking to get that extra edge in video games. This extra edge could be anything from a new controller or mouse to a hack or cheat, the latter of which can ruin the day for everyone else in the game. I would warn you that if you plan on doing this on Overwatch, you’ll quickly find that money you’ve used to buy the game being wasted as ANY cheat will get you permabanned.
The news was revealed on the Overwatch forum by community manager Lylirra, who reminded us that one of Blizzard’s many core values is the “play nice; play fair” value. As a result, they’ve developed a support plan to ensure that everyone can enjoy their time playing the new game. In the post, Lylirra explains:
“If a player is found to be cheating—or using hacks, bots, or third-party software that provides any sort of unfair advantage—that player will be permanently banned from the game. Full stop.”
The post continues to say that they are, as a company, “unlikely to publicly acknowledge when accounts are closed as a result of cheating or using unauthorized programs”, meaning that they probably won’t release information about how many people and accounts are permabanned because of hacks and unfair software advantages. With a release date of May 24th, knowing how to report cheating in the game could help keep the community clean. To find out more about reporting hackers in the game you can find the details at the bottom of the post here.
