When it comes to Gaming, there’s always been one champion when it comes to game libraries. Of course, we’re talking about Steam! Well, now there is a new kid on the block. Jump is a new games library that works just like Netflix. Giving new indie games a voice.

What is Jump?

Game manufacturers have relied heavily on big marketing budgets for years. However, that means that newer devs and studios rarely get a look. Jump aims to change this by hosting an intelligent service. Focusing primarily on indie work, Jump will allow those with limited budgets to get a head start amongst the big budget titles. The service works in a similar manner to Netflix and company chief Anthony Palma says. “Think of it like Netflix, You go in there now and get very specific categories. For example, indie horror movies with strong female leads. That’s what we want to be able to do. So we will be able to serve up not only games that you particularly will like, but we’re also gonna be able to resurface games. So just because your game launched in month three and now it’s month 12, it’s not going to be buried and unfindable.”

Why choose Jump?

Jump offers accessibility for both gamers and devs. Of course, this means that there will be a knock-on effect, more indie games results in more likewise titles. Jump is the perfect platform for the indie game fans to discover new games, and also have games suggested to them based on their gaming preferences. If you were to play a specific game, such as a shoot-em-up title more than any others. The software will then tailor suggestions based on your gameplay behaviour and techniques. Devs will also benefit as they get paid per play. This means that the longer a player spends on a game, the more the dev gets paid.

How Much is it?

Jump is a subscription service, costing $10 per month for access to a game library focused primarily on indie titles. Jump is available on PC, HTC Vive and Oculus Rift. The subscription based game library will host 60-100 games at launch, with Palma promising a certain number more every month after.
