Cherry Announces MC 4900 Mouse with Fingerprint ID Scanner
Ron Perillo / 7 years ago
Cherry Corp. has a new mouse with a very unique design. It comes with its own built-in finger print reader integrated behind the scroll wheel. This of course, makes it perfect for scenarios requiring security clearances. Or simply if you want to keep your roommate or girlfriend away from spying on your computer activities. The Cherry MC 4900 mouse has three buttons and has a very streamlined mouse design with plug-and-play Windows Hello functionality. That means no drivers or additional software is necessary.Further features can be added through an optional SDK that comes with the mouse as well.
Cherry uses a Crossmatch TouchChip TCS2 sensor with capacitive sensing technology. It is even sensitive enough that it can be used by different users within a company, government agency or institution. Fingerprint ID is a secure, reliable method of authentication and it is also fast in comparison to other traditional means. The admin can also set the authentication to be single sign-on, or part of several log-in stages in the appropriate software. As for the mouse tracking sensor itself, it is an optical LED running at 1375 dpi. The mouse body design is ambidextrous so that it is compatible with a greater number of users.
Pricing Information
The Cherry MC 4900 mouse is now available and comes in at a retail price of £100.
