Chewi Hi8 SE 8″ Android Tablet Review

A Closer Look
When you first get your hands on the tablet, the slimline design and relatively lightweight immediately come to your attention. At 7.8mm thick and weighing only 340g, this is considerably thinner and lighter than most Android tablets by around 30%. As the product states, this is very comfortable to hold in one hand for an adult. A child may find this a little more tricky.
The sleek black design with silver trim makes it very pleasant to look at. While Chewi hasn’t done much in terms of aesthetics, the sleek and simple design works really well without making it look nasty and cheap.
The tablet is provided with a 2mp camera to the front with a flash/lighting option as well. In terms of camera quality, we will get onto that later in the review.
Camera
The tablet includes a 5mp outwards facing camera. We should note that this does not appear to have a flash feature. We will again speak about the camera quality at length later in the review.
The top of the tablet also has the headphone input, the SD card insert and the battery charging point. This tablet charges off a standard USB connector. We should note that it is a little strange, in terms of design, to have the headphone input at the ‘top’ of the tablet, but the screen can, of course, rotate to suit your angle.
The side of the tablet has the lock/power on button and the volume adjust. These buttons feel nice and tactile to the touch. You will also note a small hole recess which does allow for a ‘hard reset’ in the unlikely event your tablet becomes unresponsive.
The tablet has two speakers at the bottom of the tablet. In addition, you will also find some light branding and product specification.
Overall, in terms of the design, the layout should be very familiar to anyone who has used an Android tablet in the past. If you have not though, it’s more than simple enough to make it very user-friendly.
