Chicago Home Raided in Celebrity Nude Leak Investigation

Remember the nude celebrity photo hack that took place in 2014? Of course you do! Well, it looks like whoever may have been behind the cyber attack was not exactly as anonymous as we thought at the time, as a newly-released set of papers have revealed that a home in Chicago was raided by the FBI sometime after the notorious photos were leaked online. During the raid, the FBI seized mobile phones and computers, but the Bureau stated that no charges have been filed at this time. An affidavit related to the scandal in question has identified eight victim celebrities by their initials only: AH, EB, AK, JM, OW, HS, AS and CH.

The hack was targeted at Apple iCloud accounts that contained “revealing” photos and videos of famous personalities. The photos were taken with the victims’ iPhones, and while the attack was seen by many as a horrific case of privacy invasion, it actually served a purpose in pinpointing the vulnerabilities of cloud computing. According to one of the more famous targets, Jennifer Lawrence, the event was nothing less than “sexual violation”, which is a bit of an overreaction if you ask me. Still, one could understand her frustration considering the fact that these images will likely remain on the internet for a very long time.
