Chieftec A-80 Series 650W Non-Modular Power Supply Review

A Closer Look – Interior

Chieftec’s PSU trends are not something I am familiar with so I can’t be 100% sure of who the OEM producer is. My inclination is that the platform is made by Sirfa and this is based on the style of the platform and the types of components used.

This inclination is further reinforced by the fact the fan used is Globe Fan: Sirfa have a tendency to use Globe Fans. The fan can do up to 2000 RPM at 12 volts and makes use of a sleeve bearing. This particular fan model, S1202512L, is renowned for being quiet so fingers crossed that turns out to be the case.

There’s actually a lot of space inside, the unit could probably be made more compact.

The primary hold up capacitor is rated for 330 uF at 400v with a maximum operating temperature of 85 degrees celsius.

The rest of the capacitors are high quality and rated for 105 degrees celsius operation.
