Installation and Performance

Although there clearly is more than a little cable management required here to get all three fans successfully connected, having the hub controller does make this process remarkably more straight forward. Albeit, if we were to make a minor criticism of it, the ports to which you connect the ARGB and fan cables don’t exactly fit overly snuggly unless you apply a fair bit of pressure. Put simply, make sure your cables are well inserted as sometimes they might feel ok, but when you come to switch on your system, you may find that some are not quite there yet.

Thankfully, if you are new to the world of posh fan kits, the manual Chieftec provides you with is excellent. Although the information is largely provided through writing, which I’ll admit, can be a little dry, you are told everything you could possibly want to know here to ensure that not only do you get your fans hooked up correctly but also that you are able to fully understand and utilize all the functionality on offer here to its fullest potential.

So, in terms of installing these fans, the truthful answer is that they are no more difficult or easier than most other fan kit designs. With the inclusion of the hub controller, however, having one centralized location where all your cabling can lead is certainly a major positive and, put simply, this one component should help the vast majority of users ensure they get these fitted quickly, neatly, and of course, all working correctly.

Functionality

Offering 16.8 million colors across a wide variety of different presentation styles make the Chieftec Tornado fan kit is a joy to behold. Put simply, I probably spent around 5 minutes cycling through the different options and functions available and, through this, I can promise you that there is something to suit all styles and tastes here!

In terms of testing, through our CFM measurement tool, we were able to confirm that with the listed airflow of the product specifications being 53, the results we found ranged between 51-52. As such, we are happy to confirm that the listed airflow performance figures provided by Chieftec is accurate or, at the very least, represents a solid approximation. More so, we can confirm that while acoustic performance does vary depending on how you manually set the fan speed, acoustically, these fans were exceptionally quiet.

Chieftec Tornado ARGB Fans In Action

It is, of course, one thing to tell you how good they look and another to provide you with some pictures. In our opinion, however, the best way to understand just how fantastic the Chieftec Tornado fan kit looks is to put a video together showing you all of the features and functionality on offer here. – While we only cover some of the different patterns in brief, I think we can all agree that the lighting is bright, varied, vivid, and the options available are more than a little impressive!
