Acoustic Performance
During idle usage scenarios, the system is relatively quiet and creates an enjoyable desktop experience. Even though it’s not silent, the noise output remains low and you adjust to the idle system noise very quickly. Unfortunately, the fan speeds dramatically increase under load and at their maximum values, the system is very noisy by today’s standards. This is mostly due to the Corsair Link software which appears to be ramping the fans up while keeping the pump speed lower.
Power Consumption
Even though the system is incredibly powerful, it’s also really efficient and uses less than 350 watts when stressed.
Thermal Performance
Unfortunately, Chillblast has employed far too much voltage for the overclock which means the temperatures are extremely high and I’d expect thermal throttling to occur relatively easily. I’m surprised by this and I’ve not encountered an i7-6700K which requires so much voltage while operating under 4.8GHz. On a more positive note, the GTX 1080 usually hovers in the 77-80 range and hit a maximum delta of 82 degrees. This is pretty good and I didn’t detect any huge drops in the boost clock.
