China Firm Has Reportedly Begun DDR5 Mass Production

With DDR5 memory expected to make its debut later this year with the launch of Intel’s 12th-gen Alder Lake-S CPUs (and motherboards), while this will just represent the start, sooner or later, it will be inevitable that the transition to the latest memory platform will take hold with consumers and become the ‘new’ standard. Part of this, however, does require the basic presumption though that DDR5 memory is being manufactured and in good quantities. – Well, following a report via Videocardz, there is some good news in this regard as the Chinese firm Jiahe Jinwei has just confirmed the start of the mass production of the latest and upcoming memory format!

DDR5 Enters Mass Production!

We should note that we have already seen many well-known manufacturers already reveal their own initial DDR5 memory products. It does need to be said though that these are only limited samples and, as such, the design recently unveiled by Samsung (for example) is still a long way off landing into general consumers’ hands! – Given that this major manufacturer has already begun DDR5 memory mass production, however, it does seem that Alder Lake-S is going to be something of a significant game-changer!

When Will We Know More?

Alder Lake-S is not expected to be officially unveiled by Intel until around September this year, with an actual release anticipated in late-November/early-December. As such, we are still a considerable, but admittedly not huge, way off seeing what this new DDR5 platform can really offer us. With speeds expected to start at around 4,800MHz, however, this is clearly a significant upgrade on even some of the most extreme DDR4 memory around and, as such, while I doubt it’ll be cheap (and that includes Alder Lake-S and its associated motherboards) the performance potential on offer is truly mouth-watering!
