China to consider real-time registration law for its Internet Users

The Chinese government is considering to introduce a law for real-name registration for its more than 500 Million internet users.

According to The Next Web, ISPs would be given the task of collecting and securing the real names of its users. Ever since the countries internet infrastructure has been put into place, the government has been working on killing anonymity. The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology is also moving ahead with plans to require real-name registration for app developers who publish their content to application stores in China. But this would create a lot of problems for those who voice against the government and depend on being anonymous for their protection.

Once this is implemented, the real-name system would give the authorities a very long and detailed database of information on its residents and their activities, including sites they have visited and also the device that they are accessing the internet through.
