The PC Gaming handheld market has gained a lot of traction in recent years though the majority of these devices have stuck to a standard screen as a way of displaying the game, however Chinese company Tecno Mobile have decided to opt for AR glasses as the way of using this handheld.
Tecno Pocket Go
The Tecno Pocket Go was revealed at MWC 2024 (Via WCCFTech) and boasts itself as a high-end gaming console without a display. It instead utilises AR glasses which feature dual 0.71-inch Micro-OLED displays that connect through USB-C to the controller/console. The controller itself features an AMD Ryzen 7 8840HS with 8 Cores and 16 Threads and boost clocks up to 5.1 GHz. This APU comes with a Radeon 780M iGPU with 12 graphics cores and a frequency of 2.7 GHz. This is further paired up with 16GB of LPDDR5 Memory, a 1TB PCIe 4.0 SSD and a 50WH battery.
The AR glasses boast a 6D immersive gaming experience with Vision Track, Adaptive Posture, Sound Comes alive, Ultra-precise vibrations, Audio Vibration enhancement and sensory sync. They will allow users to create 215″ projections from 6 meters away.
Tecno aren’t the first handheld manufacturer to use AR glasses, as Lenovo do also sell their Legion Glasses that are designed to pair well with their Legion GO handheld.
As of writing there is no further information on pricing or availability, the Pocket Go can be seen at tecno-mobile.com.
