Chinese Woman Dating Virtual Boyfriends
Finding yourself a partner or significant other can be a tricky business. Firstly you have the whole business of finding them, then you have to convince them you are someone who you are really not, then brace yourself for when you discover that they are not who you thought they were. Ultimately, if you get really lucky, you mind find someone who you can just about tolerate spending the rest of your life with.
Alternatively, you can do what Chinese women are doing and spend over $20m dating virtual boyfriends.
Mobile Dating Game
In a report via SkyNews, a mobile dating game is currently sweeping China and is being particularly popular with its female population.
The game, Love and Producer, has in January alone already made $22.5 million sales on the App Store.
What is it about?
The game places you in the role of a female protagonist who has just inherited a TV studio from her deceased father. While trying to keep the studio alive, said protagonist must also maintain a relationship with 4 males who may just land a role in your latest TV show.
Through missions, the player can earn ‘purple diamonds’ which can be used on the dates. You can, of course, bypass a lot of grinding by simply purchasing these and it would appear that the main consumers, Chinese women, are spending an incredible amount on these shortcuts.
That’s a lot of money!
It certainly is, especially for what appears on the surface to be no more than your average run-of-the-mill dating simulator.
In-app purchases are certainly nothing new. The fact that such a significant amount has been purchased for a dating sim is quite an unexpected boon for the developer.
What do you think? Surprised a mobile game has made this much? Would you pay for a dating simulator? – Let us know in the comments!
