Survival Guide – How A Tech Fan Can Survive Christmas

Christmas Survival Guide for Tech Fans

Getting through Christmas as a tech fan can be stressful. All those selfish sods in your family want you to take precious time away from your electronics and spend it with them! Well, we at eTeknix offer you some potential solutions to survive all of those awkward family gatherings without hopefully getting into too much trouble.

Preparation

As per the badge of my beloved Aston Villa, ‘prepared’ is the key (I wish that was the case on the pitch). If you think the chances are that you’re going to lose precious tech time with this whole ‘Christmas’ business, at least get ready first.

Clear your desk, get your TV ready, open up your system if you’re expecting a component. Do whatever it takes to mean that you get to enjoy your goodies as quickly as possible.

The art of being seen without being seen

The last thing you want to be accused of is not being part of all the family/friends fun during Christmas.

Therefore, consider games with exceptionally long loading times. Maybe even start any downloads you have and between them, sit with your family for 5-10 minutes.

You’ll still be doing what you want, but you’ll occasionally be visible to save any criticism.

Portable Devices

Admittedly, you don’t get the best gaming experience on portable devices, but still, you could always claim to be checking your Facebook. If that doesn’t cut it, try and claim you’re sending out Christmas messages. If all else fails, load up a charity page and make a donation.

Arrive for Dinner late!

‘Yeah, I’m on my way’. Christmas Dinner can be a long-winded affair, and while you might want to plough through it as quickly as possible, it doesn’t hurt your survival chances if you’re the first one to leave while still chewing your Christmas Pudding. Arriving late gives you the opportunity to roll your eyes at someone else, and then leave.

Get it out of your system!

The chances are, you’re not going to get as much tech time as you would like. Therefore consider just doing your best to get it out of your system as much as you can now.

The bottom line is, you’re going to have to do things you want, so you might as well enjoy yourself while you can.

Get a bottle of pop, your favourite snacks and binge!
