Cities Skylines 2 Latest Patch Doesn’t Fix Its Strangest Problem… Teeth!

Well, we can’t say that Paradox Interactive isn’t trying, with them now releasing another patch just days after the previous one, but with much much more, and I’m sure it’s a sign of good things to come. The update intends to bring a fix to a bunch of issues, such as game freezing, texture pop-in, long load times, and a lot more.

Cities Skylines 2 Teeth

Even with the latest patch it still doesn’t fix the game’s strangest issue… the people’s teeth. For some bizarre reason, Cities Skylines 2 is rendering the teeth of everyone in your city. So while your PC is holding on for dear life playing your Cims are walking around with perfect Hollywood pearly whites, taking a nice bite out of your GPU cycles.

This was found by a player called ‘Hexcoder0,’ who said that Cities Skylines 2 “does render individual teeth with no LOD, as far as I can tell.” which basically means that even from any distance all the sim’s teeth are rendered in at full detail. I have no idea what muppet decided to give them all teeth when the game is a city builder, but it’s pretty funny. I’ve been playing for hours and not once have I even zoomed in to see a face!

Cities Skylines 2 Patch Notes

  • Changed LOD to be independent of rendering resolution to get more consistent performance with high resolutions
  • Minor optimization with fog
  • Depth of field optimizations and tweaks
  • Global illumination tweaks
  • Optimized stutters when buildings spawn/level up
  • Optimized various stutters across all systems
  • Fixed crash after upgrading wind turbine
  • Fixed crash when car crashes into still hidden car with trailer
  • Fixed crash with mesh loading (that happens with low settings mostly)
