Cities Skylines 2 Modding Finally Coming March 25th

At long last modding for Cities Skylines 2 will be arriving on March 25th alongside the Beach Properties Asset Pack, but with the game having such a dreadful launch, will it be enough to save it?

Cities Skylines 2 Modding

Today Colossal order, developers behind Cities Skylines 2, have finally announced the release date for the games modding tools which lets be honest, due to the games sorry state will most definitely be needed to help bring it up to scratch. The modding tools will release March 25th and will include the map editor using many of the familiar tools from the previous game including the ability to import heightmaps. The Code Tools will also allow you to create code mods to meet your hearts desire, unfortunately Asset Mods don’t appear to be supported from March 25th and will release at a later date with the 1.0 release. These mods will be using the Paradox Mods site as opposed to Steam Workshop which is a bit of a shame, but it should allow console users to access them when those versions release.

Beach Properties Asset Pack

Arriving alongside this launch is the first of the games asset packs, the Beach Properties pack. This pack will include the new waterfront residential zone as well as a total of 70 new assets including 10 North American and 10 European residential buildings each with three levels, six signature buildings, and the most important part FOUR NEW TREES!

The DLC roadmap for the game has also been adjusted due to so much time being taken up on fixing the game. Below you can see the roadmap through 2024 which will lead us through to the first expansion in Q4 2024, Bridges & Ports.

A new update will release with this asset pack that will contain a “substantial amount of performance updates and general fixes and improvements” these improvements are said to really benefit lower-end computers. The release notes will be revealed alongside the update. Be sure to keep an eye on Cities Skylines pages as three Dev Diaries will be published over the coming days.
