Test Setup
For previous laptop tests we have used Windows and we are aware that a lot of users are more familiar with Windows than Linux, especially the type of users who are likely to buy this laptop.
For testing purposes we will be using Windows 7 Professional 64-bit and will be using various applications for testing including synthetic benchmarks and gaming tests.
Below is a list of the different applications and software that we used throughout our testing:
Other software is used for measuring aspects of the system performance including CoreTemp, CPUID Hardware Monitor and SpeedFan for measuring temperatures whilst Prime95 will be used to give 100% load to the CPU. We will also be using a plug-in electricity monitor to measure the power consumption at the wall socket at idle and load states.
