SiSoft Sandra
SiSoftware Sandra (the System ANalyser, Diagnostic and Reporting Assistant) is an information & diagnostic utility. It should provide most of the information (including undocumented) you need to know about your hardware, software and other devices whether hardware or software
It works along the lines of other Windows utilities, however it tries to go beyond them and show you more of what’s really going on. Giving the user the ability to draw comparisons at both a high and low-level. You can get information about the CPU, chipset, video adapter, ports, printers, sound card, memory, network, Windows internals, AGP, PCI, PCI-X, PCIe (PCI Express), database, USB, USB2, 1394/Firewire, etc.

Processor Arithmetic

Benchmarks the ALU and FPU processor units. Shows how your processors handle arithmetic and floating point instructions in comparison to other typical processors.

Such operations are used by software in typical tasks.

 • Multi-Processor (SMP) support for up to 32/64 CPUs & SMT.
 • Test takes about 2 minute on P6-class PCs.
 • Command Line Switch: CPUAABench
 • Requirements: None

Processor Multi-Media

Benchmark the SIMD processor units. Shows how your processors handle multi-media instructions and data in comparison to other typical processors.

Such operations are used by more specialised software, e.g. image manipulation, video decoders/encoders, games.

 • Multi-Processor (SMP) support for up to 32/64 CPUs & SMT.
 • Test takes about 2 minute on P6-class PCs.
 • Command Line Switch: CPUMMBench
 • Requirements: OS SIMD support

Memory Bandwidth

Benchmark the memory bandwidth of your computer. Shows how your memory sub-systems compare to other computers in terms of bandwidth.

The benchmark is based on the well-known STREAM memory benchmark.

 • Multi-Processor (SMP) support for up to 32/64 CPUs & SMT.
 • Arithmetic Operations Benchmark (assignment, scaling, addition, triad)
 • Floating-point Operations Benchmark (assignment, scaling, addition, triad)
 • Test needs at least 50% or more of free physical memory free.
 • Test takes about 2 minutes on P6-class machines with 64MB.
 • Command Line Switch: MemBwBench
 • Requirements: OS SIMD support

Memory Latency

Benchmark the latency (response time) of processors’ caches and memory. Shows how your processors’ caches and memory sub-systems compare to other computers in terms of latency.

The latency of caches is measured in processor clocks (i.e. how many clocks it takes for the data to be ready) as it is dependent on the processor clock speed.

The latency of memory is measured in nanoseconds as it is typically independent on processor clock speed.

 • Each CPU unit (core, SMT unit) can be individually benchmarked; can determine transport latencies in NUMA systems.
 • Random Memory Access: access the memory at random within the range.
 • Linear Memory Access: access the memory sequentially within the range.
 • Test needs 64MB of free physical memory free for best performance.
 • Close all programs before running it especially if you have less than 16MB.
 • Test takes about 2 minutes on P6-class machines with 64MB.
 • Command Line Switch: MemLatencyBench
 • Requirements: None
