Typically when it comes to over clocking a card, its clear that those with bigger and more beefy coolers will always have that little bit extra in them to give and this does then leave me on a point of wondering how far this card will go in comparison to the 7790 from Sapphire that I looked at last week. The smaller cooler as I have shown does in turn mean that the card runs hotter and so this may in turn lead to a not-so-great over clock in respect to what the Bonaire core can handle.
None the less its into MSI’s Afterburner suite and time to start ramping up the clocks and all things considered, upping the core clock by 170MHz to 1200MHz was a little more that I honestly expected the card to be stable at, especially as this is a white box product aimed really for system integrators. The memory as well also saw a nice boost, going up by 200MHx to 1700MHz from the stock 1500MHz.
Overall an over clock of 16.5% on the core and 13% on the memory clock is a great result for this card, even with its simple cooler design.
Translating the percentage over clock into real world performance gains, at stock speeds, the 13Series card scored X1667 points and when pushed a score of X1815 was obtained, this means that the 16.5% core and 13% memory gain gives in turn a ~9% boost in performance overall.
