This being CM Storms first gaming headset for consoles I decided to get straight into the action on Halo 4, a few games of Grifball and Swat were more than enough to show that this headset packs plenty of punch. It’s capable of making a lot of noise and certainly packs some powerful drivers. Bass response is pretty good, but far from over powering and sharp higher frequencies work well in a multiplayer gaming environment as it makes it easier to pick out the sounds of other players footsteps and details of your surroundings.
Chat worked really well on the Xbox too, the link up cable is just the right length and didn’t get in the way while gaming. The microphone is nothing incredible, but it is a big improvement over the stock Xbox headset microphone.
PlayStation 3 setup was a little different as it supports the USB cable, but you still need the audio pass through, chat performance was on par with the Xbox and game audio on The Last of Us and Gran Turismo sounded superb, lots of mid range punch and more than enough to enjoy both single and multiplayer games.
PC was easily the best performance of the bunch, sound quality had a little more bite to it and that is likely down to the source hardware more than anything else. The microphone is happy enough to work with Skype and Mumble, windows picked up all the hardware and installed it straight away and the 40mm drivers can handle a good EQ bass boost if your sound card or music software supports such a feature.
