CM Storm Octane Mouse & Keyboard Combo Review

Final Thoughts

Price

Price is the main focus of this bundle, as it comes in at just £34.22 from Dabs. This is incredible value for money and given that there’s a great range of features on offer here, you’ll be very happy with what this bundle has to offer, especially if you’re on a tight budget.

Overview

The CM Storm Octane mouse and keyboard bundle takes what we loved about the Devastator bundle and makes it better than ever. The keyboard is competent for day-to-day work and gaming, while the mouse is nimble and accurate enough to be competitive with any other budget offerings on the market. Of course, I doubt pro gamers are going to be ditching their high-end hardware anytime soon, but for entry level hardware, the Octane certainly impresses.

If I was to build a gaming system for a younger gamer, this bundle would make a great pairing and help keeps costs down, while offering all the features a gamer could want to enjoy a few hours on Minecraft or League of Legends.

Build quality isn’t amazing, but it’s not bad either. The mouse is lightweight and there are a lot of plastics here, but you won’t find much better in the budget price range. Both the keyboard and mouse should survive a few knocks and bumps without issue.

The overall design is really cool, especially the LED lighting in both peripherals. The inclusion of keyboard lock, anti-ghosting and multimedia keys on help to sweeten the deal.

Pros

  • Anti-ghosting
  • Multimedia keys
  • Cool keyboard lock feature
  • Multi colour LED lighting
  • Affordable price
  • Reasonable build quality
  • Recognisable brand name

Cons

  • Mild angle snapping/correction on mouse sensor

“The CM Storm Octane offers incredible value for money, a perfect combo for anyone on a tight budget or for those putting together their first gaming system.”

So it's no wonder I write about tech and test the latest hardware while I enjoy my hobbies!
