CM Storm Recon Gaming Mouse & Skorpion Mouse Bungee Review

The Recon mouse is designed for use in either hand so subsequently has a symmetrical shape and button layout. The mouse has a total of nine buttons including the scroll wheel, with the additional four buttons being located on either side (two on each side). The top part of the mouse (black in the photo) is coated in a rubber “soft touch” texture to aid comfort. The sides are made of plastic with a metallic grey coating. The Recon is a mid to small sized mouse suited for users with a palm grip.

The general shape is slimline and simple, featuring no frills or fancy graphics. The Recon does not have a braided cable, which is unusual, but this is most likely down to keeping costs low.

The Recon has two buttons located on the sides or thumb rests, for either and. By default these control browser behaviour – forward and back.

The rear of the mouse is relatively plain except for the CM Storm logo that lights up when connected. You’ll see more on this later.

The overall shape of the Recon is very sleek and appealing to many gamers. The open front end is not dissimilar from some of Razer’s mice. The two buttons located in behind the scroll wheel control the profile/DPI level.

The belly of the mouse features some very low resistance Teflon feet and of course the 800 – 4000 DPI Avago 3090 optical sensor.

The Recon lights up red when first plugged in to the PC. These colours are changeable in the software, or by using the profile switching buttons on top.

The photo below is just another example of the different LED colours.
