The software for the Recon has to be downloaded directly from CM Storm’s website. Whilst this eliminates the need for a physical medium, it does mean an internet connection is required at some point to obtain the drivers and software.
The first tab of the software allows you to customise the button configuration and features a graphical representation of the mouse and the corresponding buttons.
The second tab is where all the customisation takes place. The Recon can have four different DPI levels that can all be preconfigured in the software. The polling rate can also be adjusted here on top of the lift off distance.
The third tab handles the aesthetics – the LED colours and LED mode. The LEDs can be be customised to almost any colour.
The fourth tab allows you to create and record macros which can then be assigned to different buttons on the first tab.
The final two tabs allow you to save different profiles and provide links to the CM Storm website, neither of which are worth going into detail about.
