Price
The CM Storm Resonar are available from Box.co.uk for £31.26, which isn’t especially cheap for a set of headphones, but given the overall build quality and sound performance they’re an absolute bargain, especially when compared to over-ear style headsets of a similar value.
Final Thoughts
I had high hopes for the CM Storm Resonar, I was left feeling a little disappointed by the performance of the CM Storm Pulse headset and this time around, nothing but a perfect performance would have been satisfactory to win my appreciation. Fortunately for CM Storm, they’ve pulled out all the stop and created on of the best in-ear headsets / headphones I’ve ever tested and the improvement in overall sound quality is pretty significant.
The build quality is premium throughout, from the gold-plated connectors, through the durable and stylish flat cable, the compact and functional in-line controller / microphone, right up to the drivers and their aluminium housing. In ear headphones are often easy to break, but the Resonar feel durable enough to survive a fair bit of abuse, which will no doubt prove popular with those who want to wear them while jogging, cram them in their pocket with their phone or MP3 player, chuck them in their bag when they’re done gaming etc. The inclusion of a hard protective case to store them in is also a big win, durable they may be, but they’re still going to last even longer thanks to the carry case.
Sound quality is superb throughout, movies, gaming, music, skype calls and mobile calls all work really well. The performance is easily on part with that or a much larger headset and the only in ear headset that really compares would be the Roccat Syva, although I personally think the Resonar have been bass reproduction, and the Syva don’t come with the 3.5mm splitter cable, making the CM Storm offering better value for money.
“If you need a gaming headset that is highly portable, compatible with multiple devices, without sacrificing performance compared to a larger headset, then the CM Storm Resonar should be right at the top of your list.”
