COLORFUL iGame GTX 1080 Ti 16-phase VRM is an Overclocker’s Dream

NVIDIA’s latest flagship GTX 1080 Ti has been shown to be quite the overclocker’s dream, with the founder’s edition setting overclocking records at 3GHz+ and hitting unprecedented levels. That reference GTX 1080 Ti founder’s edition is equipped with a 7-phase VRM, but imagine as an overclocker if you are equipped with something even better. COLORFUL’s iGame GTX 1080 Ti which has been teased to have some very unique features including a side LCD display screen is grabbing many overclocker’s attention lately when they have unveiled what is underneath the hood: a 16-phase GPU VRM.

The beastly 16-phase power phase design was leaked by VideoCardz.com and shows a very crowded PCB that is remarkably able to feed the GPU with much more power than the reference Founder’s Edition 7-phase design. It even dwarfs the top-end GTX 1080 Ti video card design of other manufacturers such as EVGA who has a 10-phase GPU power design on their FTW3 model. Although EVGA has not revealed any plans for a Classified version yet, which is usually reserved for their best overclocking card. Their GTX 1080 model has a 14-phase GPU power design. The only other closest competition to the iGAME COLORFUL GTX 1080 Ti video card is ZOTAC’s GTX 1080 Ti AMP! Extreme which also boasts a similar 16-phase design on the promotional sheets although ZOTAC has does not use all Tantalum capacitors and fully-integrated power stages like the iGAME card as seen in their previous AMP! Extreme models. The memory still uses 2-phase power on the iGAME GTX 1080 Ti however and the screenshot shows use of Micron NAND instead of Samsung, so the COLORFUL iGAME GTX 1080 Ti not pushing any overclocking boundaries on that part.
