The TN60W is one of a range of cloud based H.264 network cameras that Compro have in their product catalogue. Over the other models, the TN60W offers infra-red night view capabilities rather than an LED lit environment.
Working down the front face of the camera, in the top left corner is a small LED which indicates the devices status at a quick glance, blue for normal function or purple of notification.
Naturally the main focus of the camera is the sensor itself, which measuring in at only 1/7″ is very small indeed. The sensor has a 2mm focal length – giving a wide viewing angle and with its maximum aperture of F/2.8, it is also very sensitive giving a bright, clear image even in low light situations before the infra-red light comes on.
Below the image sensor is a slot behind which is a speaker for two-way communication, allowing the user to ‘speak’ to any unwanted visitors or intruders. Right at the bottom is a group of three infra-red LEDs which give the camera night vision capabilities and to the side a PIR sensor which assists the camera in detecting light levels and also motion detection in the immediate area.
As well as it’s network connectivity, the TN60W also supports Micro SD cards, for storing both still images and also video capture for a standalone setup.
Looking at the back of the camera, on the top is a USB port for connecting the wireless dongle, 10/100 LAN, a DC power jack and also a QR code, for pairing the camera to the cloud monitoring app for iOS and Android devices. Below the LAN port are two LEDs for LAN status and activity.
With the Wireless -N dongle installed, the overall height to the camera is increased a little, but this does give the best signal from the unit, allowing it to be placed, virtually anywhere within the home or office without the need to run cables.
The body of the camera is mounted onto a swivel joint to allow it to be positioned at any angle to give the desired view and best coverage possible, The plastic nut below the metal swivel screws down, locking the fixture in place. The stand then has a short plastic arm the sits on a 2×2″ plastic base, allowing the unit to be stood on a flat surface or to be wall mounted.
For wall or ceiling mounted operation, the base has two holes for screws to be fitted whilst four rubber feet keep the unit sturdy on flat surfaces. Looking over to the side on the base of the camera body, there is a small hole behind which the units microphone is positioned.
