Computex: Corsair and Intel Host OC Event With Lots Of Prizes
Ryan Martin / 11 years ago
Computex just wouldn’t be complete without attractive Asian women in tight clothing, containers of LN2 and an overclocking competition. That’s why Corsair and Intel got together to sponsor Computex’s main overclocking event in Taipei’s Marquee restaurant and lounge.
The OC competition hosted by Intel and Corsair featured motherboards from all the motherboard vendors and offered overclockers cash prizes for winning each category, there were three main categories and other smaller categories. Of the main categories there was $5000 up for grabs for the best SuperPI 32m score, $4000 up for grabs for the best memory overclock and $3000 up for grabs for the best CPU overclock. These top three categories used restricted hardware that was picked randomly prior to the challenge. There were additional competitive categories using uncontrolled hardware such as pre-binned CPUs and GPUs.
8 Pack of Overclockers UK stole the show and walked off with the $5000 for posting the best SuperPI 32 million score.
While all the systems were running Corsair high performance power supplies such as the AX1200i along with Corsair SSDs running dual boot Windows XP and Windows 7.
In true overclocking spirit we saw steaming pots of LN2 and fans covering every inch of motherboard space.
And something we all dream of, mounds and mounds of high quality hardware such as Gigabyte Z87X-OC motherboards and Corsair Neutron GTX SSDs.
