Computex: EVGA Reveal X79 Dark Motherboard
Ryan Martin / 12 years ago
We actually heard rumours of an EVGA X79 “Dark” motherboard quick a while back, in fact well before CES 2013 and we actually saw the product in prototype at CES 2013, now it has finally materialised into a real end product. EVGA is said to be releasing it soon and you can see it above on the far right. How “dark” the actual design is, is quite debatable given the huge lashings of red on the motherboard heatsinks.
The motherboard will support Sandy Bridge-E LGA 2011 CPUs on the X79 socket and features an E-ATX form factor design. The eight DIMM lanes support up to 64GB of DDR3 memory. There is a 12+1 phase VRM to power the CPU socket while there are a huge 10 SATA ports for internal storage, six are SATA III and four are SATA II. Dual Gigabit ethernet grace the rear I/O, along with four USB 3.0 connectors, Bluetooth, two eSATA and 7.1 channel audio.
There are five PCI Express X16 lanes with enable/disable switches and there is a single PCI Express X1 slot. Furthermore, the X79 Dark also has an angled 24-pin power connector, a debug LED, EVBot support, Power, Reset and Clear CMOS buttons.
