Geil has been showing off some high performance DDR3 memory solutions at Computex 2013. It unveiled its new EVO Potenza series of memory modules built for the new Haswell Z87 processors as these have the best memory controllers to date of any CPUs on the market meaning that can support much higher memory frequencies.
Geil’s EVO Potenza kits will be available in 1600MHz to 3000MHz frequencies in either 4GB or 8GB DIMM densities. There is also a range of colours for the heat spreaders too such as military green, indigo, red with black and silver with chrome. Geil displayed the 3000MHz 4GB EVO Potenza modules running on a Haswell system with 12-14-14-36 CL2T timings.
Furthermore Geil also built some torture testing systems with high temperature and humidity (sounds like normal Computex weather) to demonstrate the stability of their modules. Geil reportedly uses this as a burn-in technique on its production line which it calls DBT, Die-hard Burn-in Technology.
The EVO Potenza modules will go on sale soon in single, dual and quad channel kits. Unfortunately they all seem to have green PCBs but I guess you can’t have it all.
