Computex: MSI Display Z87 XPower Overclocking Motherboard

Moving on from our extensive coverage of Gigabyte’s pre-Computex event we are now taking a look at the products from MSI. First up we thought it would be interesting to take a look at their Z87 XPower Haswell motherboard which they displayed along with their other black and yellow themed parts, the HD 7970 Lightning graphics card and the Z87 MPower Max motherboard (which we have already previewed in quite some detail here).

The Z87 XPower will sit alongside MSI’s Z87 MPower Max in the enthusiast/overclocking segment of MSI’s product stack. The Z87 XPower is OC Certified (meaning it passed an extensive burn-in test at the MSI labs), has a mammoth 32 phase Digital power system and has support for 4 way multi-GPU configurations from Nvidia and AMD. In addition it has MSI’s “OC Essentials” and their new Audio Boost features.

At the top of the motherboard we can see more closely this extensive power phase design but also the quite cool looking heatsink design. Additionally the RAM area is very busy with a lot of things to look at, there are OC buttons, power and reset buttons, base clock and multiplier up/down buttons and dual 8 pins to take your overclocking to the maximum.

At the bottom of the MSI Z87 XPower overclocking motherboard we can see another very nicely designed chipset heatsink in addition to the MSI audio boost area in the bottom left of the motherboard. You can see MSI have lavished end users with five full length PCI Express 16X lanes and two PCI Express 1X lanes as well as a supplementary 6 pin power cable for the PCI lanes.
