Computex: MSI’s GT60 3K Edition Gaming Notebook Has 2880X1620 Display

Gaming notebooks seem to have been stuck in a vacuum for the past 5 years or so and have never really moved beyond the 1080p standard despite smartphones rapidly catching up with drastically smaller displays. MSI are one of the first notebook vendors to actually do something about this and their GT60 3K edition notebook features a 15.6″ 2880 by 1620 display.

This notebook really is the best of the best and features a display that falls marginally short of matching Apple’s Retina 2880 by 1800 display. The MSI GT60 3K edition is powered by Intel’s Haswell Mobile Core i7 4930MX processor with Nvidia’s GTX 780M graphics card that has a hefty 4GB of VRAM. There are also two mini display ports and a HDMI port in case you want to use MSI’s Matrix Display feature and add another 3 external displays.

Other than the mammoth display this GT60 MSI gaming notebook doesn’t look too different to their other gaming notebooks but has some seriously high end specifications and features a Killer E2200 networking solution, 32GB of RAM, a 1TB 7200RPM mechanical drive and three 120GB mSATA SSDs in SuperRAID supporting speeds in excess of 1GB/s. The keyboard is made by SteelSeries.

MSI didn’t announce pricing or availability but it should come this year for quite a high price.
