Computex: Noctua Show 140mm D-Type Cooler Coming In Q4
Ryan Martin / 12 years ago
The NH-D14 has long been the benchmark by which premium air CPU coolers have been measured. Yet we have seen very little from Noctua in the way of improvements or redesigns of the Noctua NH-D14 in years. Now they are finally addressing this with something of an ND-D14 successor. The 140mm D-Type CPU Cooler is based on the NH-D14 heatsink design but has been modified to have a widened fin stack and expanded heatpipe layout. Furthermore the fans have been upgraded to a pair of the rather epic NF-A15 PWM fans, which we have reviewed here.
The fins have also been recessed to allow for full RAM compatibility in single fan mode, that is without the front fan. That said you could probably take the front fan and move it to the rear so that you are still taking advantage of it. Noctua have told us this new CPU cooler is scheduled for Q4 of this year, that’s October onward, so look out for this one as I am sure we will have a launch review ready for you guys.
