Computex: Sapphire Shows Off AMD “Kabini” SoC Mini ITX Motherboard
Ryan Martin / 12 years ago
AMD recently announce a whole new batch of APUs and Sapphire has wasted no time in turning them into some high quality motherboard SoC systems. Using AMD’s Kabini G-Series APU/SoC Sapphire have put together the IPC-FT3GT2 mini-ITX motherboard system. It uses a dual core or quad Kabini SoC with Radeon HD 8000 series graphics. The motherboard features two full length DDR3 DIMM slots, four SATA III 6Gbps ports, a single PCI Express 2.0 16 X slot and a mPCIe slot.
Over on the rear panel we’ve got two USB 2.0, two USB 3.0, VGA, ethernet, DVI, HDMI and 6 channel audio.
With an embedded AMD Kabini SoC the CPU/GPU component is obviously not modifiable so this is a barebones system aimed at the more functional user as opposed to the DIY enthusiast or gamer. It will be interesting to see how much performance AMD’s Kabini SoC systems can offer and Sapphire’s board looks like a pretty nice implementation.
