With it being pretty much all but confirmed that AMD will be transitioning over to a new AM5 socket design for the launch of the Ryzen 6000 processors, we saw a pretty substantial leak regarding that earlier this week with seemingly some of the upgrades and specifications we could expect to see from it. However, one thing that did go somewhat under the radar was exactly what we could expect the new processor design to look like. Well, following a report via Videocardz, leaked rendered images of what we could potentially expect have just appeared online. And they may just back up one of the long-standing theories surrounding what Ryzen 6000 could truly represent.
According to the leak source and the aforementioned information, this new source claims that the AMD AM5 series will initially be made available in both 120W TDP and offer a potentially beefier 170W design. With the image provided below, however, it does open the doors to another exciting possibility. Namely, AMD, similar to Intel, might be looking to release new processors based on the Big/Little core design. Put simply, big cores for big jobs and small cores for small jobs. So look at it as basically representing a means of making your processor exceptionally more efficient at what it does based on the task it’s presented with.
We should, of course, note that this and all prior leaks are, at least at the time of writing, almost certainly a matter of speculation based on the current known evidence. As such, while a lot of it certainly does make sense, take it with a grain of salt. – Will AMD Ryzen 6000 and AM5 be good though? Well, I suppose time will ultimately tell. With Intel Alder Lake-S set to release this year, and AMD Ryzen 6000 next year, Team Blue does seemingly have an advantage in many respects. Like most things tech wise, however, it’ll undoubtedly, at least for the vast majority of consumers, probably all boil down to how much it costs!
