Cooler Master 690 II Advanced Black and White Mid-Tower Chassis Review

When installing our components into the 690 II Advanced Black & White, we chose our hardware specifically as to the type of products the average consumer who is likely to buy this case would purchase. With that in mind, our ATX P8Z68 VL-X, Antec Kuhler 920 and Asus Radeon 6950 DirectCU II installed like a dream. There was sufficient room for ventilation within and around the selected hardware and cable management was a simple operation.
Taking a look at the opposite side, we get a glimpse into the opportunities involved with cable tidying. With some help from the included cable ties, you should find that even with a large amount of storage drives and other components, that ample room should be available to make things neat and tidy, as well as gaining the best ventilation for your system, even on a mid-tower case like this.
For most consumers, a power supply like the HX1050 that we used should be perfect in terms of size and power. For those needing some extra juice, you’ll be happy to know that larger units, such as the Antec Quattro and Thermaltake Toughpower PSU’s will still have sufficient room, as long as you don’t use a 240mm radiator in the bottom of the case. With a rubber grommet near to the PSU bay, the cables can easily be tucked out of the way to give a nice clean look to this side of the case, though it is a shame that a window panel cannot be bought for this chassis. All of the SATA cables and front panel headers also come through the bottom grommet with plenty of room for more cables, if you need.
When the system is powered up, and the fan LED is turned on, a nice ominous glow comes from behind the Cooler Master logo that is situated on the front, lower part of the chassis. You can of course turn the LED off, but it does really add that finishing touch to this monochrome styles case and gives that extra bit of design flair.
