I’m going to skip the unboxing phase of this one, not for lack of trying but the chair had already been built for a product demo prior to review, as it was the only one in the country at the time of writing (stocks on the way in a few days, so don’t worry if you do order one!). With that in mind, the first parts are lovingly already put together, as some of you may know, getting those gas lifts out is a royal pain.
The wheels look great, they’re larger 60mm Nylon wheels, so they’ll roll through thicker carpets and rugs well enough, but also won’t scratch up your harder floorings either.
The base and legs are steel rather than plastic, which gives the seat a heavier design overall, but also just makes it more robust and stable in general. I find plastic legs tend to squeak and groan over time, while the metal ones are just more rigid overall.
The gas lift is pretty much what you would expect, a Class 4, which is the sort we see pretty much on every gaming chair ever. It’ll support up to 150KG, so it’s plenty robust.
The tilt mechanism looks fairly standard, or at least it’s a fairly familiar design with the tension dial at the front for adjusting the resistance when you lean back, and there’s a gas lift control arm for making height adjustments. It fixes to the bottom of the seat using four Allen bolts and washers.
The arms fit much in the same way, screwing into these holes on each side of the seat base.
The seat base has some fairly large wings on the side, which I like the look of, and they’re angled outwards so that you can still sit with your legs crossed and they shouldn’t dig into your knees (I’ll be testing that!).
Similarly, the backrest has a set of flared sides and shoulders that match that design, but rather than you feeling surrounded by the chair by sitting in its deep recess, it’ll be mostly filled by the included cushions.
For added comfort, there’s a removable lumbar support and head pillow too.
But rather than just a couple of cheap little pillows, they’re quite large, padded with memory foam and lovely breathable PU leather that matches the overall aesthetics and build quality of the rest of the chair.
