Cooler Master CH331 Gaming Headset Review

Cooler Master has been around for a long time, creating many of the most popular PC cases, coolers and peripherals, appealing to PC gamers of every budget. The new Cooler Master CH331 is their latest gaming headset, and while it’s not particularly high-end, it’s got an MSRP of around $50, and at least on paper, it seems like it’s got a lot of features and promises a lot of performance that far exceeds the retail price, so I’m eager to put it through its paces.

Cooler Master CH331

It’s a wired USB headset with a built-in virtual 7.1 surround sound processor, meaning it’s pretty much plug-and-play on most systems. With large over-ear 50mm drivers and ear cups, an aluminium frame, a detachable boom microphone, and even an in-line controller, it’s certainly ticking a lot of boxes. Again, this isn’t a particularly expensive headset, but it doesn’t appear to be missing anything we’d see on models more than twice its price, but at the same time, I am expecting some compromises in terms of design or materials. So let’s dive in and take a closer look!

Features

  • Comfortable Fit: Oval earcups made of PU leather and ergonomic design for optimal comfort.
  • Durable Construction: The frame is composed of Aluminum in a Y-Yoke construction providing durability and an understated style.
  • Virtual 7.1 Surround Sound: Custom-tuned 50mm drivers deliver virtual 7.1 surround sound for a rich, detailed soundstage for gaming and entertainment.
  • Detachable Boom Mic: Omnidirectional microphone delivers quality comms with minimal noise, ideal for gaming or for meetings while working from home.
  • Ambient RGB Illumination: Illuminated, minimalistic logo adds an ambient glow to your gaming experience
  • Inline Controls: Convenient controls on the cable allow you to adjust volume, mic, and other settings without pausing the action.

What Cooler Master Had to Say

“The CH331 USB Gaming Headset takes the essential audio experience and refines it for all gamers. A sturdy aluminium frame for durability and understated style is attached to ergonomic earcups for all-day comfort. Powerful 50mm speakers precision-tuned for virtual 7.1 surround sound delivers immersive audio — while an omnidirectional detachable boom mic offers convenient comms with reduced noise and improved clarity. Inline controls let you adjust settings right from the anti-snag, anti-tangle cable. And if that weren’t enough, it’s plug-and-play for instant compatibility. Durable, comfortable, and immersive, the CH331 gives you everything you need, and nothing you don’t.” – Cooler Master
