Cooler Master CM Storm Scout 2 Mid-Tower PC Chassis Review

Build the system took me just under 30mins, which isn’t too bad, as you can see I have removed the pre-installed 120mm rear fan to make room for our Antec 920 Kuhler, which I’m glad to say fitted into the chassis without any issues, one thing I did find was that this chassis isn’t quite as big as it looks on the inside, with installation of our graphics cards power cables proving a little troublesome, but I guess that’s why they made the middle hard drive bay removable, so its not really an issue.
The cable management is doing a reasonable job, but not as well as I would have liked, the placement of the two cable management cutouts on the right hand side of the motherboard don’t seem well placed for our motherboard meaning the cables still have to travel a little to reach their connection points, but this is just a visual issue as airflow is still fairly unobstructed throughout and I’m sure with a little more forward planning to your cable management and the use of braided cables, you could obtain better results.
The CPU cooling block has decent clearance here too with about 1cm between the rear fan on the 920 and the heatsink, there is also still plenty of room for a pair of 120mm fans in the top of the chassis without any conflict on the motherboard.
Around the back everything is looking neat and tidy, our GTX 560 Ti has plenty of room between its fans and the PSU, this chassis could easily handle a decent SLI/Crossfire setup.
I opted to install our SSD in the top hard drive bay, but this was mostly for display purposes, generally I would aim to remove the top drive bay, installing the SSD in the bottom of the chassis, giving much better airflow throughout the chassis and making more room for our GPU, but overall our test components fit reasonably well and also look really nice in this chassis.
With the side panel back on you can see the slight issues with cable management really don’t matter, the side window allows for a good view of our graphics card and CPU cooler, but little else, and I doubt you would see much of the power supply if you opted for 2 x 120mm fans on the side panel, but I expect this would look great with 2 LED lit fans installed here.
