How Much Does it Cost?

The Cooler Master CMP 520 Mid-Tower ATX PC Case is available now from most major retailers. It’s currently on Amazon for just £89.99. considering the price includes the premium 120mm ARGB fans, that’s a pretty reasonable price. I do think there are signs of cost-cutting in this case, such as the snap-off rear covers and fairly basic-looking interior. However, with prices going up at every step of the process, that’s what it takes to keep the price down for the consumer. I think Cooler Master made the right choices, this is still a lovely-looking case and performed really well. If you want something a touch more premium, the next level up is the MB 520, which is priced at £123.60.

Overview

I do like the Cooler Master CMP 520, it’s a pretty straightforward case and a pretty straightforward design. Sure, I love high-end stuff with unique designs and premium materials throughout, but not every build calls for a heavy £200+ PC case, because that would be stupid. At around £90, the CMP 520 ticks all the right boxes, while trimming the fat to ensure you get good airflow, some great quality fans, and a nice-looking case with enough change from £100 to buy some snacks.

Just affording a GPU is hard these days, so saving a little on your next PC case is no bad thing. You do get a lot of good stuff here though. There’s a large tempered glass side panel window, allowing you to show off your build. This also means the ARGB lighting illuminates the case, allowing you to enjoy the view of your hardware. This does mean your cable routing is on show too, but while it resorts to just basic cut-outs for cable routing, it’s actually surprisingly easy to get a clean-looking build in the CMP 520.

The PSU shroud, the hidden SSD and 3.5″ drive mounts, and lots of cable tie loops ensure everything gets tucked out of sight. It’s very beginner friendly to build in overall. Plus, if you’re a PC building pro, it’s a very familiar layout, so you could likely build in this with your eyes shut.

Should I Buy One?

The latest case from Cooler Master may not offer anything new or innovative, but it does deliver a good-looking case at a very reasonable price. The inclusion of three ARGB fans ensures stunning aesthetics and customisation, but also reliable cooling performance for air-cooled builds. Plus, the shorter footprint of the case makes it ideal for placement on or next to slimmer profile desks.
