Cooler Master Cosmos SE Mid-Tower Chassis Review

Exterior

As you can see, the Cosmos SE keeps the hall-mark rails of the rest of the Cosmos range, these are made from aluminium and are rock solid, providing style, carry handles and a sturdy base for the chassis. The left side panel features a huge window that gives us a great view of the interior.

The right side panel features a large raised section in the same shape of the side panel window, keeping a nice uniform design to each side, but also helping with cable management by expanding the space behind the motherboard.

The front panel looks super sleek yet super aggressive at the same time, the finish and textures used have a really nice look and feel to them and it certainly makes quite a statement.

The top IO panel is well equipped, first of all we have the power, reset and fan light switch at the left and right, then toward the front we have a pair of USB 2.0 ports, USB 3.0 ports and HD audio jacks.

Tucked into the top we have three 5.25″ bay covers, each of which can be easily removed and reinserted from the front of the chassis.

Below that we have a removable air filter, which can be removed by pulling at the base of the chassis and clipped in just as easily. Behind the mesh you will find 2 x 120mm blue LED intake fans, the fan light switch on the top of the chassis can be used to turn the lights on and off should you need to.

Around the back we have a pre-installed 120mm exhaust fan, three rubber grommets for water/cable routing, 7 expansion slots and an extra vertical dual expansion bay. At the bottom we have a PSU mounting bracket, which extends out behind the chassis a little, providing just that extra bit of room to the interior for water cooling, hard drives and other components.

The top rails arch out making the chassis a little wider, but they also slope down toward the front panel. There is a large mesh panel here also, behind which you’ll find several cooling mounting options which we will take a look at shortly.

The base of the chassis features twin dust filters, both high quality and easy to remove from the front and back of the chassis. There is loads of ground clearance here too, so any base mounted cooling and your PSU should get a great amount of air flow.
