Cooler Master Launches Budget-Friendly Devastator 3 Mouse+Keyboard Combo
Ron Perillo / 8 years ago
Cooler Master‘s Devastator 3 is the latest update to their affordable gaming mouse+keyboard combo. It is actually not just directly replacing the Devastator II, but upgrading several features as well. The latest version adds a 7-color LED option so users no longer have to stick to a just one. The Devastator II combo for example, was available in red, blue or green LED backlight versions. The new CM Devastator 3 gives users to choose between using white, light blue, purple, green, red or yellow.
Devastator 3 Keyboard
The new Devastator keyboard still uses membrane switches, which should be obvious due to the price. It uses the same frame and design as the Devastator II, although CM appears to have ditched the “mem-chanical” design. Or at least they are not promoting it. The mem-chanical mounts on the previous version allowed users to swap the keycaps with any Cherry MX compatible solution. However, it added an audible click to the sound, which many membrane keyboard users detest.
The keyboard itself measures 449.7 x 148.4 x 35.6mm and weighs 898 grams. Impressively, Cooler Master offers 16 different localized layouts so users all over the world have options.
Devastator 3 Mouse
Similar to the keyboard, the new Devastator mouse can choose between seven LED colors. It also retains the design of the previous generation Devastator mouse, measuring 119.1 x 64.6 x 36.7mm and weighing in at 128g (including cable). Users can switch between four DPI level presets: 600, 1200, 1800 and 2400. This is a similar DPI range to the Devastator II which used a PixArt PAN3509 optical sensor. It could also be using similar blue-point TTC switches for the left and right mouse clicks.
Pricing and Availability
The Cooler Master Devastator 3 will be available on June 28. It will be priced $10 more than the previous Devastator combo kit at $39.99 USD.
