Cooler Master Eisberg 120L Prestige Liquid Cooler Review

One thing that struck me as being quite annoying was that the fans have to be installed with an Allen/Hex key. Everyone is used to screw drivers so I am unsure as to why Cooler Master chose to do this. However, it does mean the installation is “tool-less”. DSC_5352

Cooler Master provide some rubber dampeners to prevent vibration but they are actually very thick. Around 6mm so make sure you have enough space for two of these either side in addition to the two fans and the ride, the total thickness will be in the region of 92mm (25+25 (fans)+30 (rad)+6+6 (rubber inserts)).

Here you can see the Eisberg 120L with both the fans fully installed. Its worth noting that you need the rubber mounts to prevent the screws from being over tightened. There are plates in place to prevent over tightening breaking the radiator channels but if you screw too hard you could go through those.

For LGA 1155 you simply plug in four bits of plastics and finger screw in the mounting screws.

This is what they look like from the back, as you can see no backplate is required.

You are provided with two brackets, we used the Intel ones. The bracket installation is tool-less and you simply push them in to the provided spaces – the two brackets should clip together to form a square on the pump/res unit.

With the unit resting on the CPU you need to add the washers and springs.

Following the washers and springs you need to add the final locking nuts into place and finger tighten them until the pump unit is secure. The design is pretty rubbish in that you need to hold the plastic clip in bits below the brackets as you turn the locking nuts otherwise the locking nuts just continuously turn and never actually tighten. I really think Cooler Master could have provided a better mounting procedure as it is quite long and unnecessarily complex. I would recommend that you install this unit outside of the case otherwise one person will just not have enough hands to hold everything for the installation.
