Cooler Master Hyper 212 Black Edition CPU Cooler Review

Performance

When it comes to our testing, overall the results provided from the Cooler Master Hyper 212 are excellent. Now, being that this is a low-cost cooler, it’s clearly not going to be competing with some of the high-performance (and by proxy expensive) models. That being said though, for those of you unfamiliar with this coolers history, you might be surprised to see that it manages to punch impressively above its weight.

Stock Temperatures

At stock levels, the Cooler Master Hyper 212 Black Edition sits at the bottom end of the middle pack which initially doesn’t sound particularly impressive. When you do, however, look at the coolers above and below it, you begin to understand just how excellent this really is. It finds itself not only outperforming many AIO liquid coolers, but also many which you would expect to comfortably have this beat!

Overclocked Temperatures

The Hyper 212 has to work a little harder when overclocked as is reflected in the higher than usual idle temperature. When it’s put to work though, the fan and heatsink are more than capable of meeting the task. It again finds itself competing with some exceptionally impressive models that retail for a significantly higher price.

Stock Acoustics

If the performance figures have already impressed you, then the noise levels should be the coup de gras. Finding itself in our number 6 spot is exceptionally impressive. The ‘Silencio’ fan this cooler is provided with clearly lives up to its name and in truth, has a nearly silent performance noise under standard operational levels.

Overclocked Acoustics

While the Hyper 212 gets a little more vocal when overclocked, it is still impressively quiet. Beating out many AIO liquid coolers (of which the main factor is often the quieter operation) if noise is a key factor in your system build, then this cooler does a more than an impressive job at fulfilling that remit!
