Cooler Master has set out with a similar concept to INWIN with its new QUBE 500 Flatpack PC case offering a more customisable PC case option that is easy to ship and more sustainable for the planet.
The QUBE 500 Flatpack is a case shipped in a flatpack format similar to IKEA furniture or INWIN’s similar iBuild case series. The QUBE 500 allows the user to build the case themselves with modular panels with various colour options for customizability. All of this comes in more eco-friendly packaging that can save a lot more space when being transported. This case also has a smaller overall footprint though is still capable of fitting larger components with a size of 406 x 231 x 415mm (LxWxH) including protrusions and has an overall volume of 33.44L. The front I/O is well equipped with two USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports, one USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type C and one 3.5mm combo jack.
The case comes pre-installed with a single 120mm PWM fan pre-installed that is either black, white or RGB white depending on the variant of the case you buy. In total the case is capable of fitting 1x 120/140mm fan in the front or two if the PSU is in the bottom of the case. 2x 120/140mm fans on the top bottom and left side. For radiators, there is a maximum room for 280mm on the top, bottom, left side and front again depending on the PSU location.
Hardware compatibility is strong despite its small size with room for up to E-ATX motherboards, 164mm CPU coolers, 365mm long GPUs and varied PSU support depending on installation location. For storage, there is 4x 3.5″ HDD drive bays and 3x 2.5″ SSD drive bays.
“Throughout Cooler Master’s journey, we’ve consistently driven innovation and elevated user experiences,” said Jimmy Sha, Cooler Master CEO. ” The QUBE 500 and the MasterLiquid Atmos show our undying passion for revolutionizing the PC landscape. They’re not just products; they’re extensions of our commitment to empower our community’s PC-building and gaming adventures.”
I’m a big fan of the growing trend of flatpack PC cases, its a neat idea that opens up a lot more customizability for future builds. The QUBE 500 will be available in all UK PC components retailers from October 2023 in black and white for an MSRP of £79.99 with a multicoloured Macaron edition for £99.99.
