Final Thoughts

Pricing

The Cooler Master G100M is launching today for just £39.99, which is fantastic value for money for such a cool looking product with controllable RGB lighting. It’s pretty competitive for price vs performance too, especially for those upgrading a stock cooler and no interest in high-end overclocking.

Overview

You can easily buy a similarly priced CPU cooler that performs better than the G100M, heck, Cooler Master even make a few of those themselves. However, that’s really not what this CPU cooler is about. Many CPUs and motherboards on the market simply do not overclock, and some end users have no interest in doing so. With that in mind, I don’t feel the need to dismiss this cooler because it can’t take an i7 to 5GHz with great temperatures.

So Why Buy One?

Aesthetics are just as big of a part of the ecosystem as anything else these days. The G100M has such a unique and interesting design, and you’ll either love it or hate it pretty quicPerformancekly. If you’re building a compact gaming rig, with a tempered glass side panel and a few RGB fans, this is going to look pretty spectacular mounted centre stage. Its design really grabs your attention and it’s nice to see something unique.

Performance

The cooler performance is pretty good, especially at stock loads. However, even while overclocking we saw some good temperatures for general gaming performance too. More importantly, it’s quiet even when the fan is pushed pretty hard. If you care about having a quiet system, it’s perfect for the job.

RGB

Since I’m a bit daft and left my SDCard thousands of miles away from where I am when this review was written, I don’t have my video of the CPU cooler RGB lighting. However, it uses the same lighting tech as their new fans, so please feel free to check out the video below from a previous review we did to demonstrate the lighting effects.

Pros

  • Competitive performance at stock
  • Capable of some mild overclocking
  • Quiet fan even at high RPM
  • RGB controller included
  • Braided cables
  • Unique design
  • RGB fan and edge lighting
  • Affordable price

Cons

  • No ideal for high TDP overclocking
