Cooler Master MasterAir Pro 3 and 4 CPU Cooler Review

The MasterAir Pro 3 performs about where I would expect, clocking a load temperature of +34c, which isn’t the best we’ve ever seen, but it’s easily on par with similarly priced coolers such as the Shadow Rock Slim, Hyper LED, and Aidos. The MasterAir Pro 4, however, does a heck of a lot better, actually keeping up with the Noctua NH-D15, which is simply fantastic for a smaller air cooler!

What throws me off here is that both coolers did fairly similarly while overclocked. Of course, the bigger Pro 4 managed to keep the temperature down an extra 2c, but given it’s given performance beats out the ever popular Cooler Master Hyper 212X, and the Pro 3 is only +1c warmer, it’s clear these are the modern replacement for that cooler.

Another impressive result, both the new coolers come equipped with the new MasterFan fans, and clearly, it was a worthy upgrade. Both fans ran whisper quiet at stock clocks, making them some of the quietest coolers we’ve tested.

Pushing the heat up with our overclocked CPU saw the smaller Pro 3 92mm fan having to work a little harder, but it’s still quiet overall; it even beat out some of the Noctua offerings. The Pro 4 is doing even better, clocking in as one of the quietest coolers we’ve ever tested. I would feel comfortable pushing both these cooling fans harder for even better cooling performance.
