A Closer Look – Interior

The interior of the Cooler Master MasterBox MB520 is very nice indeed. The first thing I noticed are the cable grommets. I don’t know why, but almost all major brands have stopped using them in favour of just nicely cut holes. It’s likely a cost thing, but honestly, I’d rather have them back, I’d always liked a good Grommet…

Up in the front, you’ll find three gorgeous 120mm ARGB fans, and they’ll provide all the airflow just about any system could need. However, there’s certainly room to expand on this. The front panel will support two 140mm fans if you want to change things up, and it’ll support 280 or 360mm radiators too.

The top of the case is the same, with room for three 120mm or two 140mm fans, and again, similarly sized radiators too, albeit they’ll have to be slim ones.

The case also has a nice party trick here too, as you can lift out the top panel. This makes it easier to clean the fans, and install cooling hardware, and frees up a lot of elbow room, so you can build your PC much easier.

Behind the motherboard, there’s a modest amount of space for cable routing, although there is a little more depth towards the front of the case. Not that you’ll need too much room here to cram cables, as the PSU shroud provides ample cramming space for all you lazy cable routers (like me).

There’s room to mount a pair of SSD back here, and there’s a drive cage under the shroud should you have any additional 3.5″ drives.

Finally, there’s the fan hub, which includes some headers for the ARGB effects, so you don’t even need an ARGB-compatible motherboard to operate them, but you can use your own controller if you have one.
