A Closer Look – Exterior

The Masterbox 600 is a really nice looking case, and while it’s not exactly reinventing the PC case, it appears to hit all the marks for what I look for in a good PC case. Firstly, the price, it’s £99.99, which makes it surprisingly affordable for its size. A lot of E-ATX cases for the big names are priced at £150+ these days.

You get a high airflow front panel design, and on this version of the case, it comes bundled with three 140mm fans in the front, so you’re going to get a massive wall of airflow right through the case, which is obviously great.

I quite like the two-tone effect to the mesh too, it’s got two stripes down the side, and there are various bumps and troughs pressed into it to keep it looking interesting.

There’s also a large tempered glass window that runs the full height of the case, so you can see everything inside, such as the PSU shroud, the fans, and all your lovely hardware.

Up on the top, there’s another massive section of ventilation, allowing you to add more fans or a radiator. However, there’s nothing there out of the box, but it’ll still let heat passively exhaust out of the top of the case, which is always a good thing.

Around the back, there’s a 120mm fan mount at the top, with long mounts allowing for a fairly significant amount of vertical adjustment. It’s also here we see our first, and perhaps even our last sign of cost saving, with the expansion slots covers using a cheaper snap-off design.

And of course, there’s an ATX PSU mount at the bottom of the case too. And finally, there’s ventilation on the bottom too, allowing airflow to your PSU area, and of course, there’s some dust filtering here too.
